An artist who draws the shadow to make the light shine.

Born in 1975 in Alès, in southern France, she grew up with a pencil in hand and her head full of colors. She spent her entire childhood in the studios of painters Amélia Oliva and Jean-Marc Scotti, two artists from Occitanie who passed on to her their passion for drawing and painting techniques.

Her artistic journey led her to Applied Arts, first in Nîmes, then in Toulouse, where she earned a BTS diploma in Communication Image. With this solid foundation, she arrived in Paris in 1998 to start her career. Initially a storyboard artist, she became an illustrator in 2003, lending her line to a variety of projects: books, posters, advertisements, packaging, and fashion.

Today, she juggles between her two roles: illustrator and painter. For her, these two facets are inseparable, each feeding the other. Her illustrations are infused with her personal research on graphic design and materials that she explores as a painter.

Through her creations, she primarily seeks to capture an atmosphere, a feeling. Fascinated by Asian art and Sumi-e, she plays with light and shadow to create unique moods. Fabric also occupies a central place in her work: she imagines patterns, works on folds and transparencies to give movement and express femininity. Atmosphere and movement: these two intangible elements drive her passion and daily research

What connects us :

Sophie Griotto’s works capture the beauty of nature in all its simplicity and richness. Through her paintings, she invites us to pause, to observe the subtle details of the world around us, whether it’s the softness of landscapes or the magnificence of natural forms. At Davidson, we share this philosophy of taking the time to look and appreciate the world from a deeper perspective, whether in our projects or in our interactions. Like Sophie, we believe that beauty lies in the small things, in moments of contemplation that allow us to go further and find innovative solutions. This ability to connect with nature and extract its essence is reflected in our approach: a constant search for harmony, simplicity, and creativity in every challenge we take on.
